Preakness Party ready to go!

Before Kentucky Derby winner Justify enters the Starting Gate at Pimlico for the 143rd Preakness Stakes, the party will be ON at the Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono!
Doors open Saturday, Preakness Day at 9:30am, with the wagering windows open at 10:00am.  Post Time for Pimlico is 10:30am, and the Preakness Stakes is race 13 with an approximate Post Time of 6:45pm.
The patio and trackside bars will be ready with all kinds of ice-cold refreshments, including the famous Black-Eyed Susan in the souvenir glass.  Food will be available on the apron as well, and just in case showers fall, there is a big tent with TV monitors to keep the fans comfortable and dry.  Dress to impress and bring your friends to enjoy the second jewel of the Triple Crown!
After the Preakness is official the Downs has a massive live racing card set to go, including 3 divisions of the PA Sire Stakes for 3-year-old pacing colts and geldings, and two divisions of the Great Northeast Open Series.  There will be plenty of excitement on the track all night long, so fans are encouraged to stay and play well into the night.
Advance wagering on the Preakness is available on Friday, May 18th, Black-Eyed Susan Day, starting at 11:00am.  Post Time for Pimlico is 11:30am on Friday.

Live music; a QB; and the second jewel of the Triple Crown!

All eyes are on Churchill Downs this week, and the Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono’s party for Kentucky Derby 143 will be the biggest and the best, but plans are already taking shape for the second jewel of the prestigious Triple Crown.  Preakness weekend will be full of excitement!

The “Captain” sets sail for Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs

Defending Pacer of the Year Captaintreacherous makes his 3-year-old debut Sunday night at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in the 10th race, one of four divisions of a $250,344 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes.
The son of Somebeachsomewhere, trained by Tony Alagna, starts the season racing under the new banner of Captaintreacherous Racing.  Like his star Thoroughbred counterpart Orb, racing in the Preakness the day before, Captaintreacherous will be starting from the rail Sunday – only in the Captain’s case it’s the outside rail in a field of seven, which shows four horses beating 1:53 already this year. Tim Tetrick will be in his familiar sulky position behind Captaintreacherous.
Featuring in other Sire Stakes divisions are proven stakes winners Our Dragon King, Apprentice Hanover and Twilight Bonfire, plus two chancy types: Eddie Sweat, who takes the big step up after winning the PA Stallion Series championship last year, and Beach Memories, who tripped the timer in 1:50.2f in only his second start of 2013.

First post for the big Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs Sunday night card is 6:30 p.m.
