Meet Foiled Again on Breeders Crown night!

Breeders Crown 2018 will be filled with 12 exciting races on one spectacular night at the Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono Saturday, October 27th.  The entire night will be an event to remember, with something for everyone, including a souvenir photo booth with proceeds to benefit the Standardbred Retirement Foundation; a red carpet for fans to make their entrance; food trucks; the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame Gift Shop; Bow River Jewelry; Breeders Crown swag stand, mascot Hambo Tony; and much more.

 

In addition, a HUGE celebrity will be on hand for a special meet and greet!   Fans will have the chance to meet and take a selfie with….FOILED AGAIN!  Yes, the richest standardbred of all time will be making a special appearance to meet his fans and to raise money for the Harness Horse Youth Foundation and for standardbred aftercare programs at 5:30pm. This event is a wristband-only event, with wristbands distributed in a limited supply starting at 4:00pm on the apron.   The appearance will take place on the track apron, closest to the paddock area.  Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

 

The connections of Foiled Again will be on hand to meet fans as well, and to celebrate his thrilling victory in the 2013 Breeders Crown at Pocono.

 

Foiled Again will also lead the Post Parade for one of the Breeders Crown races.

Harness Horse Youth Foundation Summer Camp Deadline is June 1st

The Harness Horse Youth Foundation Summer Camp will be held at the historic Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in Wilkes Barre from July 23 through 27.  This camp is for youths ages 12-14., and is part of  the most extensive program ever, with over twenty events scheduled in ten states.  The deadline for applications is Saturday, June 1st, and is filling up fast. 
The camp will feature hands-on experience, including driving the organization’s stable of Trottingbred horses.  Applicants will work hands-on, learning everything from how to care for and groom the horses; what type of equipment is used; information about lameness; history of the sport of harness racing; stable management, and ultimately, equine careers.

Mohegan Sun at Pocono presents Harness Youth Camp 2012

The Harness Horse Youth Foundation is sponsoring a five-day overnight harness horse camp at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, July 17-21, 2012. HHYF seeks applicants between twelve and fourteen years old, as of January 1, 2012. The camp fee is $150 which includes overnight accommodations, all meals and materials. The event wraps up Saturday, July 21 with exhibitions featuring all participants. Applicants from across the country will be considered, but campers are responsible for their own transportation to the Scranton-Wilkes Barre area. Applications are due May 1. 
Applicants will work hands-on with the HHYF’s stable of Trottingbred horses. Among the topics covered are care and grooming, equipment, conformation, lameness, history, stable management, and equine careers.
