Broadway Socks Wins Fourth Consecutive in Stallion Series at Pocono

Broadway Socks won a division of the Stallion Series on Tuesday night for her fourth consecutive win overall, highlighting the action for three-year-old trotting fillies at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. There were six Stallion Series divisions held, each with a purse of $20,000.
Broadway Socks (Broadway Hall-I Gotta Feelin), driven by Dan Rawlings and trained by David Wade, won her split in 1:55:2 to keep her streak alive. Other Stallion Series winners on the night: Sincerely Yours S (Cantab Hall-Kemp’s Emilie), driven by Scott Zeron and trained by Jonas Czernyson, in 1:56:3; Outsourced Hanover (Donato Hanover-Oaklea Opal), driven by Matt Kakaley and trained by Ron Burke, in 1:55:4; Nitro Nittany (Explosive Matter-Miss Nittany), driven by Howard Parker and trained by Jim Raymer, in 1:54:4; Here’s Ethel (Equinox Bi-Overtookthem), driven by Brett Miller and trained by Sharlene Dufford, in 1:57:2; and Bikini So Teeny (Yankee Glide-Momsgotitgoinon), driven and trained by Charlie Norris, in 1:55.

Father Patrick Starts Off 2014 with a Romp at Pocono

Father Patrick’s sophomore season picked up where his 2-year-old campaign left off, as the trotting superstar coasted to an easy win in a $37,262 division of the Dickerson Cup in the Historic Series on Wednesday night at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.
Facing a field of six three-year-old colts and geldings as the 1-9 favorite, Father Patrick (Cantab Hall-Gala Dream), winner of 10 of 11 as a 2-year-old including the Breeders Crown final, easily made the front end on the front stretch and never had an anxious moment from there. The 3-year-old star of the Jimmy Takter barn won by 4 ½ lengths in 1:53:3 without driver Yannick Gingras ever lifting a finger. Amped Up Hanover was best of the rest in second and Marathon Man picked up the show.
In the other Dickerson Cup division held at Pocono on Wednesday night, Auspicious Hanover (Andover Hall-Above All Hanover) took advantage of a late break by leader It Really Matters and picked up the victory in 1:54:1. Driven and trained by Charlie Norris, Auspicious Hanover was the longest shot on the board at 14-1 and broke his maiden with the win. Dony Andreas finished second and It Really Matters hung on for the show.

Alagna Scores Twice in Stallion Series Action at Pocono

Trainer Tony Alagna picked up a pair of victories in Stallion Series action on Tuesday night at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. There were seven divisions held on the night for 2-year-old colts and geldings on the pace, each carrying a purse of $20,000.
Alagna trains the night’s first Stallion Series winner Maxi Bon (Somebeachsomewhere-Knock Three Times), who, with Simon Allard aboard, won in 1:52:1. Later on, Tim Tetrick drove Some Playa (Somebeachsomewhere-Venusinbluejeans), also trained by Alagna, to a Stallion Series victory in 1:53:4.
Other Stallion Series winners on the night: Official Warning (Art Official-Bang The Door), driven by Howard Parker and trained by Charlie Norris, in 1:54:2; Gymokee Jerry (The Panderosa-Simply Liz), driven by David Miller and trained by Roland Mallar, in 1:54:1; Here Comes William (Dragon Again-Miracles Delight), driven by Jim Morrill Jr. and trained by Bob Barnard, in 1:53:1; Jack Attack (Allamerican Native-Pocket Queens), driven by Ron Pierce and trained by Joe Pavia Jr., in 1:52:1; and A OK Hanover (Yankee Cruiser-Aw Shucks Hanover), driven by Andy Miller and trained by Roger Hammer, in 1:52:3.

Wing Tips Stars in Stallion Series at Pocono

Wing Tips posted the fastest winning time among four divisions of the Stallion Series held at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs on Sunday night. The races, which were contested by 3-year-old trotting colts and geldings, each carried a purse of $20,000.
Wing Tips (SJ’s Caviar-Annette Hall), who was coming off a win in his previous start at The Meadows, came home a winner in 1:54:2 with Brian Zendt. The gelding is owned by William Zendt and trainer Leslie Zendt.
The other Stallion Series winners on Sunday night: Celebrity Hall (Tom Ridge-Canne Angus), driven by Andrew McCarthy, trained by Susanne Strandqvist, and owned by Celebrity Farms, in 1:55:2; Fogelberg (SJ’s Caviar-Maurel Hanover), driven by Charlie Norris, trained by Todd Rooney, and owned by Foge McKeever LLC, Eldon Thompson, and Joseph Hartley, in 1:55:4; and Upfront Billy (Andover Hall-Angel Pie), driven by Brian Zendt and owned by trainer William Zendt and Ed Mullinax, in 1:54:3.
In an exhibition race, Pocono held its first ever Racing Under Saddle event with a purse of $10,000. Armbro Doyle (King Conch-Accompaniment), owned and trained by Tracy Brainard and driven by Helene Gregory, won in 2:00:2, setting a new North American record for such a race on a 5/8-mile oval. Keepin The Chips finished 2nd and Dreamnwillie picked up the show.
