The former SNL cast-member brings the laughs Saturday, February 8th
Darrell Hammond, the comedian, actor and author, best known for his work on Saturday Night Live is bringing his lively brand of stand-up comedy and impressions to the Keystone Grand Ballroom in the Convention Center at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs for a night of laughs Saturday, February 8th at 8:00pm.
The February 8th show was originally announced in October during Hammond’s appearance at a press conference announcing Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs’ new partnership with Wise Crackers Comedy Club.
Tickets for An Evening with Darrell Hammond are $30 and are on-sale now through Ticketmaster. Hammond is best known for bringing to life his famous impressions of Bill Clinton and Sean Connery as well as scores of other politicians, actors, media personalities and newsmakers during his time on SNL. With his historic run as a Saturday Night Live regular from1995 through 2009, Hammond earned the distinction of holding the longest consecutive tenure of any cast-member in the shows 38 year history. In 2011, he released his critically acclaimed memoir; God If You’re Not Up There, I’m F***ed: Misadventures with Fake Noses, Funny Accents, Addiction and Saturday Night Live.
As a stand-up comic, Hammond appeared in his own televised special, Comedy Central Presents: Darrell Hammond. He has also appeared multiple times on CBS’ Late Show with David Letterman and NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Night with Conan O’Brien. He has also been a frequent guest on The Howard Stern Show.
Hammond has also had numerous television and motion picture roles. His credits include guest roles in the FX drama Damages, Scary Movie 3 & 6 and Law & Order: SVU. Hammond also appeared with Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, and Donald Trump in an Oreo commercial during which he performs his famous impression of Trump.

Special Reality Check event for the Hotel’s Grand Opening Weekend
WHAT: Derek Hough, Dancing With The Stars’ most successful dance pro, will join the shows newest star, Emma Slater for a special Reality Check event at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs on Sunday, January 19th. This free, live event will be part of the weekend-packed festivities set to celebrate the Grand Opening of the Hotel and Convention Center at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.

IN DETAIL: Derek Hough, current, 5-time Dancing With The Stars champion will join the show’s newest dance pro, Emma Slater for a special Reality Check event as part of the exciting, event-packed Grand Opening weekend for the Hotel and Convention Center at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.
The special Reality Check with Hough and Slater will include a live dance performance followed by a Q&A and signing. The event will coincide with the Grand Opening festivities which include three-days of live entertainment featuring double-platinum-selling Country music star Josh Turner, The Bacon Brothers and David Foster and The Mohegan Sun All-Stars.
The first 350 people to visit the Player’s Club booth across from Ruth’s Chris Steak House on January 2nd at 5:00pm will receive a ticket to the exclusive performance and Q&A. Due to time restrictions, signing personalization or photos taken with personal cameras are prohibited. Headshots will be given out at the event. This event is bracelet-only. A limited number of bracelets will be distributed starting at 12:00pm at the signing area on the Sky Bridge. Participants must have a bracelet in order to gain entry into the signing line.
Derek Hough is the only 5-time champion in franchise history of the hit ABC series Dancing With The Stars. A dancer since age 11, Hough’s professional Ballroom dance accolades include World Under 21 Latin American champion, 2-time Open British champion (Blackpool), 2-time International Open to the World champion and 2-time U.S. Open champion. Hough is coming off of a big year in 2013 which included an Emmy win for Best Choreography and his fifth Mirror Ball win with partner and Glee star Amber Riley on Season 17 of Dancing With The Stars.
Emma Slater is the newest dance pro on Dancing With The Stars, having made her series debut on Season 17 this past fall. Together with dance partner Bill Engvall, Slater placed 4th in the competition. At age 10, Slater began her training in Ballroom and Latin American Dance and went on to be ranked as one of the world’s top 20 in Latin American Dance. In 2007, Slater was also featured in the Universal Pictures film adaptation of Mamma Mia.

Calling the Northeast’s best bands to compete for cash prizes and a chance to open for a national headliner
WHAT: Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs will host its 4th Battle of the Bands competition at Breakers from February 26th – May 21st, 2014. Bands are now being considered for the competition with a deadline to enter set for Friday, January 10th, 2014.

IN DETAIL: Is your band the best in the Northeast? Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs hosts its 4th Battle of the Bands competition to answer that very question. It all kicks off with the first Battle of the Bands showcase on Wednesday, February 26 2014 inside Breakers at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.
Each week from February 26th – May 21st, cheer on the bands as they compete for cash prizes and bragging rights. The grand prize winning band will take home $10,000 and a chance to open for a national headliner. The second place band will win $4,000, with the third place band winning $2,500.
Bands interested in competing can enter Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs’ Battle of the Bands no later than 5:00pm on Friday, January 10th, 2014. Forty bands will be selected to compete. Interested bands can learn how to enter the competition by visiting Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs’ website.

During a press conference this morning, Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs announced a new partnership with Wise Crackers Comedy Club, which will make the property its new home. On-hand to make the announcement were Mohegan Sun President Mike Bean, Wise Crackers owner Scott Bruce and a special guest, Saturday Night Live alum Darrell Hammond. Wise Crackers at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs will deliver the laughs with live comedians every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night starting at 9:00pm in the Seasons Ballroom. Shows at Wise Crackers at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs can seat up to 400 and are set to begin Saturday, November 30th.
“We are excited to welcome Wise Crackers and offer our guests a wonderful new live experience that will expand on our reputation as one of Pennsylvania’s most distinct entertainment destinations,” said Mike Bean, President of Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.
Wise Crackers Comedy Club was started in 2001 as a “mom and pop” operation with one room at Genetti’s Best Western in Hazleton, PA. Wise Crackers at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs will make the fifth Pennsylvania location for Wise Crackers. A comedy club, Wise Crackers features comedians from all over the United States as well as a few from abroad. Many of Wise Crackers comedians have appeared on the various late-night talk shows as well as starring in their own HBO and Comedy Central specials. Wise Crackers is also well known for their off-site special events and fundraisers across the tri-state area, during which they have raised over $1M for local charities.
“It’s a thrill to partner with one of Pennsylvania’s biggest names in entertainment,” said Scott Bruce, owner of Wise Crackers. “We look forward to bringing some of the best acts in comedy to Wise Crackers at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.”
Darrell Hammond, a comedian, actor and author, best known for his work on Saturday Night Live was on hand at the press conference to provide some laughter and announce that he will be playing a show in the new Convention Center at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs on February 8, 2014.
“It’s great to be here with you today for this announcement but I can’t wait to come back for a full show in February,” said Hammond.
Wise Crackers opens on Saturday, November 30th with headliner Jimmy Carroll. Other shows planned include comedians Kevin Meaney on December 5th-7th, Tina Giorgi December 12th-14th, John Knight December 19th-21st and a New Year’s Extravaganza featuring the Poconos’ Tonight Show with comedy and the PTS Band. Tickets for Wise Crackers will be $15.00 per ticket for regular shows every Friday and Saturday and $5.00 per ticket for Thursday Amateur Night. Special acts will be subject to individual pricing based on the show.

Breakers After Dark and M Bar offer exciting new nightlife options
Mohegan Sun At Pocono Downs is excited to announce all-new nightlife enhancements to their property with the addition of Breakers After Dark and M Bar. Both Breakers After Dark and M Bar will join a collection of restaurants and venues that reinforce Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs’ standing as one of the most distinctive entertainment destinations in Pennsylvania.
Breakers After Dark is the newest evolution of Breakers; Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs’ signature hotspot. Starting August 29th, every Thursday night beginning at 10:00pm, Breakers will transform into an all-new nightclub where the hottest DJ’s energize the night until 2:00am. With a curtain enclosing the space to make a more intimate atmosphere, Breakers After Dark will pulse with cutting edge music, enhanced lighting, custom video and bottle service to create northeast Pennsylvania’s newest, exclusive nightlife experience. IN DETAIL: Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs is set to conclude their season-long Hot Summer Fun festivities with a literal bang! It all begins with a special concert featuring 80s Hair Band tribute, Bad Hair Day, playing energetic interpretations of some of the Hair Band era’s biggest hits. $3.00 Coors Light drafts and concessions will be served during the free concert which takes place on the apron of the racetrack at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.
Doors open at 6:00pm with the band playing two, one-hour sets, one at 7:00pm and the other at 8:30pm. An all-ages fireworks extravaganza will follow the last set at 9:30pm.
