Since their arrival on the music scene in 1993 in a legendary residency at Los Angeles’ Brown Derby night club, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s irresistible live show and aggressive, musically perceptive approach has proven them over time to be the singular standout among the numerous bands that launched the 90s Swing revival. The seven-man group forged a massively successful fusion of Classic American sounds from Jazz, Swing, Dixieland and Big-Band music, building their own songbook of original dance tunes and sixteen years later, BBVD is a veteran force that, to this day, adds new fans by the roomful every time they play. BBVD’s originals rocketed the group into its first phase of stardom when “You & Me & the Bottle Makes 3 Tonight (Baby)” and “Go Daddy-O” were featured in the 1996 indie film landmark Swingers. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, named famously after an autograph by Blues legend Albert Collins, sold more than two million copies of the albums Americana Deluxe and This Beautiful Life and received national critical acclaim while the band’s music has appeared in over sixty movies and television shows. Friday, June 6th :  Classic Albums Live  Presents: Pink Floyd’s  The Wall
The Wall remains one of the major documents of the 20th century. It’s a historic album that sold better than any other album released in the 70s. Roger Waters confronts the post war dream and what effects were on a disillusioned youth. Sonically, there is no other album that covers the beauty and depth of emotion that is The Wall. We all tune in and turn on to “Comfortably Numb” but it’s the deep tracks that become the most compelling. “Nobody Home” and “Vera Lynn” are like news casts full of imagery and information.
Easily the greatest concept album ever recorded – The Wall continues to illuminate the dark corners of isolation and conformity. It made an entire generation feel like there was someone else out there going through the same head space. This album is therapy.
Friday, June 13th: The Fabulous Thunderbirds Featuring Kim Wilson
For more than 30 years, The Fabulous Thunderbirds featuring Kim Wilson have been the quintessential American band. The group’s distinctive and powerful sound, influenced by a diversity of musical styles, manifested itself into a unique musical hybrid via such barnburners as “Tuff Enuff” and “Wrap It Up”. Co-founder Kim Wilson, the sole original member, still spearheads the group as it evolves into its newest incarnation. “We started as a straight blues band”, vocalist and harmonica player Wilson says. “We now incorporate a mixture of a lot of different styles. We’re an American music band.”
Friday, June 20th: Bowzer’s Rock & Roll  Party
Bowzer’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Party stars Bowzer & The Stingrays and Rocky & The Rollers and is the most fun way to revisit the music and the classic era of the 50’s and early 60’s. As the leader of “Sha Na Na,” Bowzer was seen in millions of households every week on Sha Na Na’s #1 syndicated TV series, and he still brings the same energy to the stage as the host and star of his show, strutting and flexing his puny biceps and belting out his basso profundo. There’ll be a dance contest, a hula hoop segment, Bowzer will wow the audience with his classical piano chops followed by a lightning-fast rendition of “Bumble Boogie,” and the great songs of the era will include “Blue Moon,” “Twistin’ The Nite Away,” “Shout,” and of course the song that closed the “Sha Na Na” TV show and created memories for millions, “Goodnight, Sweetheart.”
Friday, June 27th: Starship Starring Mickey Thomas
Mickey Thomas is the owner of the soaring voice that propelled Starship through the decades of the 80’s and 90’s. With his soulful and compelling vocals, Mickey has established himself as one of Rock music’s most recognizable stars. Mickey made his mark in 1976 as lead vocalist on the mega-hit “FOOLED AROUND AND FELL IN LOVE” with The ELVIN BISHOP Band.  In 1979, Mickey joined Jefferson Starship as lead vocalist, after the departure of Grace Slick and Marty Balin.
Backed by the power of Mickey’s vocals, Jefferson Starship immediately scored a #1 hit with “Jane.”   With this new sound and powerful new vocals, the group was renamed Starship and continued to record an amazing string of hits including “No Way Out,” “We Built This City,” “Sara” and an Oscar nomination for the #1 hit “Nothing Gonna Stop Us Now.” Other top hits included “Find Your Way Back,” “Stranger,” “Laying It On The Line” and “It’s Not Over Till It’s Over” which became Major League Baseball’s theme in 1987.
Moreover, every Starship album released since 1979 has gone Gold, Platinum or Multi-Platinum.  Mickey’s stellar voice and video charisma on Starships’s video classics such as “We Built This City” and “Sara” have become staples on MTVand VH1.  Material covered in Starship’s live performance ranges from Mickey’s tenure with The Elvin Bishop Band and Starship as well as songs from his two solo albums.
