Ahead of the opening of their new 238-room hotel and Convention Center this fall, Mohegan Sun At Pocono Downs is pleased to announce the appointment of Charles Meeks as the new Director of Sales and Catering and name Timothy Athey as Director of Hotel Operations.  

In his role, Athey will direct all aspects of hotel operations for the property’s new, seven-story, 238-room hotel which is set to open later this fall.   
Athey has worked for Mohegan Sun for more than a decade having started at Mohegan Sun’s flagship property back in 1998 as a Barback. Most recently, Athey was the Guest Services Manager for Mohegan Sun’s 1,200-room hotel in Connecticut.

Charles Meeks, Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs’ new Director of Sales and Catering, will oversee all aspects of convention and meetings business, catering, banquets and special events for the new 17,000 square-foot Convention Center.
Meeks has been in the hospitality business for more than 30 years, beginning his career in El Paso, Texas where he held various positions including Director of the West Texas Film Commission and then Director of the El Paso Convention and Visitors Bureau. After a more than 20 year career in El Paso, he moved to Ruidoso, New Mexico, where he worked in sales with the Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort and Casino and then as General Manager for two area hotels.

Career Fair Set For Grand Opening Of Hotel And Convention Center

Over 250 Positions to be created with Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs’ Project Sunlight  

WHAT:  A Career Fair will be held on Tuesday, June 18th ahead of the opening of Project Sunlight, Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs’ new Hotel and Convention Center. Several positions are being offered in the Housekeeping, Front Desk, Banquet, Call Center, Security, Food & Beverage departments and more.
WHEN/WHERE:  Tuesday, June 18th, 10:00am – 7:00pm in Seasons Ballroom at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs
IN DETAIL:  Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, the largest employer in Luzerne County, is expanding not only their property, but their workforce. This fall, Pennsylvania’s first casino will be opening a seven-story hotel and adjacent Convention Center. To prepare, they are hosting a job fair on Tuesday, June 18th to fill up to 250 positions being created by the expansion, Project Sunlight.
“We are in the process of doing a number of things to prepare for the opening of our new hotel, which will have 238 rooms, an events and convention center, spa, bistro, pool and fitness center. We are excited to be holding a job fair on June 18th here at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs from 10:00am to 7:00pm to find
250 great local people to join and help us open and operate our new facility,” said Mike Bean, President and CEO of Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.

Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs Appoints New Vice President of Marketing

WILKES-BARRE, PA (February 15, 2013) – Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs is pleased to announce the promotion of Robyn Ryan to Vice President of Marketing, overseeing the advertising, public relations, marketing and revenue maximization for the Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania gaming destination.

Ryan has been with Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs since March 2012 where she held the position of Director of Marketing Campaign Management. In her new role as Vice President of Marketing at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, Ryan will be responsible for developing specific marketing strategies and tactics as they relate to Database Marketing, Player Development, Player’s Club, Promotions /Special Events, Bus Sales,  and other miscellaneous marketing programs.  In addition, she will be tasked  with establishing guidelines for hiring, training, and coaching staff, developing policy and procedure manuals, and guidelines for daily operating procedures, and  interfacing with all operating departments to ensure that marketing programs are designed and implemented with ease of execution, profitability and customer service being the most important factors.

Prior to joining Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, Ryan worked at Belle of Baton Rouge Casino & Hotel, Cherokee Nation Entertainment and at Harrah’s Metropolis Casino. She has a Bachelor of Arts and Economics from Hollins College in Virginia.

Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs Names Assistant General Manager and Vice President of Hotel and Food & Beverage

WILKES-BARRE, PA (January 8, 2013) – Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs is pleased to announce the promotion of Kara Fox-Larose to Assistant General Manager and Jeff George to the position of Vice President of Hotel and Food & Beverage.
Fox-Larose has been with the Mohegan Sun organization for 18 years, serving most recently as the Vice President of Marketing at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs where she was responsible for a number of departments including Bus Sales, Regional Marketing, Player’s Club, Promotions and Special Events. Prior to her arrival in Pennsylvania, Fox-Larose served as Vice President of Marketing and Promotions at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. In her new role, Fox-Larose will be responsible for all non-gaming operations.
Additionally, Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs is pleased to announce the promotion of Jeff George to Vice President of Hotel and Food & Beverage. George has been with the company since 2008 serving as Director of Food & Beverage and overseeing the successful opening of Project Sunrise. Over the course of his 22-year career, George has worked in food, beverage and hotel positions at a number of gaming companies including Harrah’s Entertainment, Boyd Gaming Corporation and the legendary Binion’s casinos.
