WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 2, 2010, 2010)—Rock N Roll Heaven and archrival One More Laugh are headed for a Breeders Crown showdown when the finals are held Saturday (October 9) at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.
The top two three-year-old pacers in North America will be seeking the coveted Breeders Crown after both won their elimination races Saturday evening at the Northeastern Pennsylvania racetrack.
Rock N Roll Heaven, coming off those 1:49.2 world-record winning miles at the Little Brown Jug, won his elimination race in 1:49.1 over the five-eighths mile with a second-over trip down the backside. Rock N Roll Heaven was motoring three deep after the three-quarters was clicked off in 1:21.4 with We Will See (Brett Miller) leading the field. He won by five lengths over the latter pacer.
Third in this race was Fred and Ginger (Brian Sears) with Shoobee‟s Place (David Miller) also making next week‟s finals because of a fourth place finish.
“He‟s feeling so good now,” said winning driver Daniel Dube of Rock N Roll Heaven. “I didn‟t even have to pop the plugs.”
Trainer Bruce Saunders echoed Dube‟s thoughts and also noted he doesn‟t care how “Rock” wins, leaving the judgment to Dube.
One More Laugh, driven by Tim Tetrick and trained by Ray Schnittker, won his elimination race with a time of 1:50 with a first over trip in this $25,000 elimination race.
After the opening quarter was timed in 26.4 with BG‟s Folly (David Miller) the leader, One More Laugh led at the half, timed in 55 seconds and three-
quarters in 1:22.2 before winning by two and one-half lengths over a hard-closing Rockin Image (Yannick Gingras) with third-placed going to BG‟s Folly.
Fourth place finisher was Art N Charm (John Campbell) while the ninth and final horse into the finals is He‟s Gorgeous, who finished fifth to One More Laugh and because of the highest season earnings over Kyle Major, who finished fifth to One More Laugh.
“I was very impressed and his did it really well,” said Tetrick in the winner‟s circle following the win by One More Laugh. “Good horses bounce back. He didn‟t have a good „Jug” day but he was impressive tonight.”
Jim Morrill Jr., second-leading driver at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, collected three Breeders Crown elimination races Saturday evening. They came with Not Enough in a three-year-old and older mare race and a 14-1 longshot; Cannae Cammi in a three-year-old filly pace and Fashion Feline in a three-year-old filly trot event.
