Crème De Cocoa heads up Breeders Crown Trotters

WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 29, 2010) –Crème De Cocoa, a multiple stakes winner this season, heads up a very talented field of two-year-old filly trotters that will be racing in three elimination races Friday night at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.
Top three finishers in each of the divisions will be moving on to the $600,000 Breeders Crown finals on Saturday, October 9.
Crème De Cocoa is coming off victories in the $71,000 American-National and $161,800 Kentuckiana Stallion Management Stakes. She was second in the $437,000 Merrie Annabelle.
She will be starting from the five post in the second elimination that also includes Champlin Stakes division winner Martinontherocks and Merrie Annabelle third-place finisher Fitness Girl.
D.R. Ackerman, who trains and drives crème De Cocoa said his filly trotter is very sharp, very sound and very healthy going into Friday evening’s Breeders Crown elimination at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.
A homebred filly, Crème De Cocoa is by Chocolatier—who won the 2005 Breeders Crown for two-year-old male trotters and $1.32 million for the Ackerman Stable—out of the mare Judge Judy.
―I think she’ll do well,‖ said Ackerman. ―She likes to compete and she’s not a breaker.‖
Fans Friday night also will see three elimination races for two-year-old male trotters since 23 horses were entered. Top three finishers in each of these races will be vying for $600,000 Breeders Crown October 9.
In the first elimination race, The Lindy Reserve, with Tim Tetrick in the sulky, will be leaving from the three post while Broad Bahn (Jack Moiseyev) has the five hole.
The Lindy Reserve, trained by Frank Antonacci, won the $500,000 Peter Haughton at the Meadowlands with Tetrick driving. Time of this mile was 1:55.3. The Lindy Reserve has two wins in six starts this year.
Broad Bahn, trained by Noel Daley, has won three of eight starts this season with more than $210,000 in earnings. The young trotter broke stride in the Haughton and finished up the track.
Trainer Jimmy Takter has several talented youngsters ready to go in the elimination races Friday. The entry of Leader Of The Gang and Johnny B Kemp are in the second elimination race for the two-year-old male trotters.
Leader Of The Gang (Ron Pierce) will leave from the six hole while No. 1A Johnny B Kemp (David Miller) will be alongside at the No. 7 post.
Leader Of The Gang has hit the board in all eight of his starts this year with five victories and more than $302,522 in earnings.
Stalemate Johnny B Kemp on September 24 at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs with Takter driving established a new track mark with a time of 1:55.4 for a freshman colt trotter.
There will be 11 Breeders Crown elimination races Friday with nationally-recognized drivers such as Dave Palone, Brian Sears, Marcus Johansson, Brett and David Miller, George Brennan, John Campbell, Pierce and Tetrick in the sulkies with the young horses.
