WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 6, 2010)—While most of the attention is given to the three-year-old colt and gelding Breeders Crown pacers Rock N Roll Heaven and One More Laugh, the three-year-old filly Breeders Crown pacers will be “putting on a show” of their own Saturday night at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.
The two elimination races the preceding Saturday at the Northeastern Pennsylvania racetrack saw Put On A Show and Cannae Cammie winning their elimination races. Put On A Show, trained by Chris Ryder and driven by Tim Tetrick, won in a sizzling 1:50.2 while Cannae Cammie, trained by Paul Reid and driven by Jim Morrill Jr., won in 1:51.
Put On A Show. Leaving from the three post, will be looking for five straight wins and has won 11 of 13 starts in 2010 with earnings of more than $839,000.
Cannae Cammie, who has the No. 1 post, will be seeking her sixth straight victory in the $500,000 Breeders Crown finale. Cannae Cammie has won seven of 11 starts this season.
Trainer Ron Burke, who is the leading conditioner in North America, has nine of his horses in Saturday’s Breeders Crown finals. That’s two more than Jimmy Tatker and four more than Jim Campbell.
“My mare has been doing super,” said Ryder of his prized three-year-old filly pacer. “She’s had a great year and got around the five-eighths track super. Timmy (Tetrick) was really happy with her.”
Tetrick said Put On A Show was well in hand in her Breeders Crown elimination race.
Reid also was impressed with Cannae Cammi. He noted that driver Morrill Jr. gets along good with the horse and that both handled the track real well.
Morrill Jr. is very familiar with the racing surface at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs since he’s a regular and second leading driver behind George Napolitano Jr.
KEEPING PACE—Breeders Crown programs will be available for purchase beginning Thursday afternoon.
There also will be advance wagering on the Breeders Crown program beginning Friday at noon. Included in the wagering options will be a Breeders Crown Pick 4 with a starting jackpot of $10,000 and a Breeders Crown Pick 6 with a starting jackpot of $20,000. Both will be given away to the fans Saturday.
Budweiser Clydesdales, courtesy of Anheuser Busch and Northeast Eagle Distributors of Pittston Township, will be performing both Friday night and Saturday afternoon at 4 at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.
A Corvette, worth some $70,000, will be awarded to a lucky fan Saturday night. Entry forms also will be available that day with the drawing taking place between the races. Valley Chevrolet is participating in the car giveaway.
