WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The first of two filly-pacer elims for the Breeders Crown sophs went to the big choice, Put On A Show, at Pocono Downs, Oct. 2. The mile went in 1:50.2.
Northwest Hanover bravely took the lead early but lost it to Put On A Show at the :55.1 half. “Northwest” was done at three-quarters, finishing fourth.
Naughtytiltheend attempted a first-up challenge but had nothing left late.
Higher And Higher closed stoutly, passing tired ones, she came way off the pace and maneuvered to finish second.
Put On A Show never let go of the front once on top.
“She did it like a great filly, said trainer Chris Ryder. “and we are so happy to have had such a great year with her. We have just a few starts left so let’s hope it continues.”
